Why I Joined Rotary

The Ayta communities of Porac, Pampanga are in the midst of an unfolding crisis. On the 22nd of April 2019, a massive 6.1 magnitude earthquake caused landslides that displaced more than 700 Ayta families in Porac, Pampanga. Today, nearly two months later, these families are still struggling to recover from their displacement. They have no easy and reliable source of clean drinking water, they have no sanitary facilities, they live in makeshift hovels that barely keep out the elements, and they are vulnerable to illness and disease. We can help. By pooling our resources, we can reach out to these Ayta and give them an assist; a hand up, not a handout. This is a service opportunity that will let us truly make a tangible difference in the lives of these forgotten brothers and sisters, not just in the immediate term but also in the long run. This is why I joined Rotary.
