Ask me to recommend a good Italian restaurant, and Italianni‘s would be the first name on my lips for a couple of reasons. First, the food is good, which can’t be said for many other places claiming to serve Italian cuisine. The baked zitti and mussels lombardi in particular, stand out. So do the truffle fries and, if you’re feeling a little bit more peckish, then the spinach and artichoke formaggio is the way to go. The one thing I can never develop a taste for, however — and I realize I’m probably in the minority here — is the stuffed mushrooms. Those overloaded caps are like the Italian equivalent of gyoza: I know they’re objectively good, but they’re just not for me.
The other thing I truly appreciate about Italianni’s is the old world feel of its restaurants. There’s something reassuring about the ambiance created by those old black and white photographs decorating the walls, making it a perfect place to indulge in, yep, comfort food. It’s sort of familiar, like eating in the kitchen of your family home.
So go experience Italianni’s. They’re in a lot of locations but the ones I go to most frequently are the ones in Robinsons Place Manila, S Maison in Pasay, and the one at BGC High Street. Restaurant hours, naturally. Oh, and bring your Bistro Card if you have one – the discounts are crazy!
