COMELEC ZamboSur donates

Despite difficulties due to the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine as a response to COVID-19, COMELEC-Zamboanga del Sur, while heeding the call of government to stay home, nevertheless responded to the call of the times, extended assistance to some families in Pagadian City, hard-hit by this emerging crisis. In less than a day, upon the initiative of the Pagadian City Election Officer with the acquiescence of the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Election Supervisor, the group was able to generate a sizeable fund from all Election Officers and Elections Assistants who, without reservation willingly shared their blessings through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to buy food packs for distribution to fire victims in a conflagration which occurred on March 14, 2020 in Pagadian City. Out of the funds raised, the group was able to distribute 20 sacks of rice and 50 kilos of dried fish to 80 household fire victim-beneficiaries who are until now housed in an evacuation facility of the City. The gesture shown by COMELEC-ZamboSur, which undoubtedly eased hunger for at least a few number of days and which was received by the beneficiaries with deep gratitude, does not only manifest kindness and compassion but likewise attests to the long standing notion that joining hands together, can make a difference.
