Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto S. Brillantes Jr., will be on official leave from the 18th of December 2011 until the 8th of January 2012.
Commissioner Rene V. Sarmiento has been designated by the Commission en banc as the Acting Chairman of the COMELEC during the absence of Chairman Brillantes.
Chairman Brillantes will be travelling abroad at the invitation of the International Foundation for Electoral System – IFES – through its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. William Sweeney.
